Neighbors Helping Neighbors
The Boswell Volunteer Fire Department, located in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, provides primary fire and rescue to Boswell Borough, as well as parts of Jenner Township and Quemahoning Township. We routinely respond as mutual aid throughout northern Somerset County.
We are your neighbors, ready to help, whatever the emergency!
Fire & Rescue
Boswell VFD operates a fleet of four fire vehicles: a rescue-engine, engine, tanker, and brush truck. We are first due for fire and rescue response for all of Boswell Borough, as well as parts of Jenner Township & Quemahoning Township.
Emergency Medical Services
In September of 2022, our ambulance division was officially disbanded largely due to financial and staffing issues. Our former service area is now covered primarily by the Somerset Area Ambulance Association out of their stations in Somerset and Kantner.
Community Support Makes it Work!
The largest part of our funding comes from donations and generous support of our ongoing fundraisers. Typically we have 1-2 fundraisers a month including sub sales, soup sales, basket parties, raffles, and more. Watch our Facebook page, or visit the calendar for information about upcoming events!
We hold a weekly bingo game on Sundays at our social hall, located at 201 Hower Avenue, Boswell, PA 15531.
Doors open at 4:30pm and bingo starts at 6pm!
“Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.” -Martin Luther King, Jr.
