Join the Boswell VFD!
If you're passionate about serving your community, we have a place for you! Boswell Fire Department is constantly looking for new volunteers interested in helping us fulfill our mission of providing emergency services to our community.
"Active" members train as first responders to answer a variety of emergency calls ranging from fully involved structure fires, to vehicle accidents, to simpler incidents like downed trees or flooded basements. No prior experience or training is needed, we'll make sure you get signed up for the appropriate classes locally or regionally. Interested in helping with emergencies, but not big on the idea of running into burning buildings? There are still a variety of jobs that you can help with at incident scenes including our "fire police" division, which help with traffic and crowd control at a variety of scenes. "Social" members assist the department in other ways, without having to meet the expectations of emergency response. Our social members are an invaluable part of the department that help with fundraising, community outreach, and other administrative activities. If you have special professional experience in the areas of finance, legal, marketing & communications, construction, we would ESPECIALLY love to talk with you about how you could contribute. Whether an active member or social member, we simply ask that you do your best to participate in department activities. Department business meetings are held every second and fourth Tuesday of the month, and we typically have at least one fundraiser each month in addition to emergency calls, training, and other events. Every new person helps lightens the load for the rest of us! |
If you're interested in joining, stop by the station at 606 Hower Avenue for a tour and application, or reach out via our Contact page.
